FAQ
What is Drive Protection?
Drive Protection is Dealerware's insurance bundle for dealership loaner and rental fleets. It combines two products: Insurance Verification, which confirms a customer's coverage before they drive, and Ride Coverage, which lets customers purchase rental insurance protection when their coverage falls short. Together they let your store verify every policy, cover every gap, and hand over the keys.
What is Ride Coverage?
Ride Coverage is a Dealerware product that lets your customers purchase rental insurance protection directly inside the rental or loaner agreement. The products, including a Loss Damage Warranty (LDW) and liability options, are offered by the Car Rental Association (CRA), a long-established rental insurance company, on the Dealerware platform. One screen and one signature apply to both the loaner agreement and the insurance purchase.
What is Insurance Verification?
Insurance Verification is a Dealerware product that confirms a customer's insurance coverage against the standard your store sets, inside the contract flow. Before a customer drives your loaner or rental vehicle, your team knows whether their policy meets your requirements. No calls to carriers and no judgment calls at the counter.
What happens if my customer already has insurance?
Ride Coverage products are primary, so they respond before the customer's personal auto policy. Many insured customers choose coverage simply to keep a claim off their own policy. The choice always belongs to the customer.
How can I use Ride Coverage and Insurance Verification for my dealership?
Use them together as Drive Protection. Insurance Verification checks the customer's policy at contract. When coverage is missing or falls short, Ride Coverage lets the customer buy protection on the spot. Your staff presents the options and the customer decides. Drive Protection is available now for Volkswagen, Audi, Volvo, and Jaguar Land Rover dealers, and for any dealer not using their OEM insurance program.
How do my customers purchase Ride Coverage?
Customers purchase Ride Coverage inside the Dealerware contracting flow, on web and mobile. The customer selects coverage, signs once, and receives the signed loaner/rental agreement and insurance agreement along with the certificate of insurance and receipt by email and SMS.
How does offering insurance when they use my loaners help my dealership?
You say yes to more customers. When insurance is missing, falls short, or comes from a carrier you don't accept, the customer buys protection on the spot instead of walking. Loss dollars move off your garage or OEM program policy, and your dealership earns on every product sold.
Does my staff need an insurance license?
No. Your team acts as enrollment agents on behalf of CRA. They present the options and brochures; the customer decides.
